Posters

Campaign Posters

Here are few posters I came across for other campaigns that was posted on the underground. Because I will be doing a campaign, a poster is very important for selling the purpose.

These posters will also give me an idea on what direction to go. I have added 3 types which are war, travel, and a theatre play. My poster will contain a mixture of these three.

Prams

Prams

I looked at  few prams to use for my campaign and these are the ones that I narrowed down to. The pram is one of the main features behind my campaign. I decided to use the last 2 prams in the picture, one of them is used nationwide as the main symbol for travellers with prams.

Logo

Logo Test 1

Because My campaign is about helping with a pram. I wanted it to be a few hands and a pram in it. This is the first test I came up with .

Logo Test 2

In this logo I have designed to make it more of a circle type of logo with the slogan on the top.

Logo Test 3

This one is similar to the one above but I decided to try the name on the bottom.

Stairs

Selhurst Station

This is a picture I have taken at the station just to show what a person travelling with a pram would have to go through. There are no guards at the station so everyone is responsible for managing by themselves getting up and down the steps.

I carried a pram all the way up these stairs and it was not easy. Therefore for a mother to do it by herself is not safe or wouldn't be something I recommend.

RSA Fonts

Types of Fonts

Here are few fonts I have selected to experiment with for my RSA project. Because I am doing a campaign it is very important I pick the correct font. Because different types of people will be viewing the material that will be designed for both young and old.

How I came up with the name for the campaign, Help In Hand, was the clear message it sends out. It has a dual meaning; help that is around us and handy when needed but also emphasises the concept of a helping hand.

Lifts and Ramps Plan

Access for All

A major programme improving accessibility at train stations nationwide by installing lifts and ramps.

Station All Access Plans

Step-free stations offer accessible routes from entrance to platform. Step-free access not only benefits disabled people or those with reduced mobility, but also people with children, heavy luggage or shopping, and some more elderly people.

Using the railway reduces congestion on the roads and aids economic regeneration by giving easy access to job markets.

Occasionally local authority planning issues, heritage matters and other schemes can delay the start date of some accessibility improvement work. Whilst this is out of our control, we understand the frustration this can bring and work tirelessly with our partners to resolve things as quickly as possible, keeping local communities, councillors and MPs up to date.

Access for All is a £370m upgrade programme improving accessibility by introducing lifts and ramps at train stations nationwide

I came across this page while I was researching for plans to improve stations that don't have access to aim passengers that needs it. This is a wonderful plan if they stick to the whole idea.
My question would be would about people that need help right now how would they improve this?
They have a page that shows all the station that have access, getting access in the near future and ones that are being worked on now.

Example of how the information is displayed on the site.

Journey With a Pram

Clapham Junction

Above I took this picture with 2 mothers travelling on the underground. Both ladies got on from Shepherds bush and there was no help to get the prams off or on the train. I helped one of the mothers and another person helped out the next one.

The pram was very heavy because the mothers was on their way home from a day of shopping at Westfield Mall. The only good thing about both stations was they had lifts to get up and down from the platforms.

I asked both females what would make there journey better and their answer was the same help with getting off and on the train.

Selhurst Station

I took this picture with a mother at the station travelling to Gatwick airport. I had to help her unto the train with her bags from selhurst cause she was travelling alone. what made her journey worse she had to change at East Croydon where I help her again to get off one train and on to another train to the airport.

There are no porters at selhurst but there was some on every platform at East Croydon but did not attempt to offer their help. She thought this was very bad and they were lazy, it should be a part of their job instead of having to ask them.

 Clapham Junction

This is a picture I took at the station with a newly added lift with the last year are so. I asked one the porters on the platform about it and he said it was something that had to be done. He then went on to say it was too hard to get disable traveller from platform to another.
